The Director of Talent Acquisition will design and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the library’s mission and growth objectives. This senior-level HR professional will lead the entire recruitment lifecycle, from proactive sourcing and employer branding to ensuring a positive candidate and onboarding experience. They will collaborate with department leaders to build a strong talent pipeline of diverse, mission-aligned candidates, ensuring the organization attracts and retains top talent.
This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $129,000 - $131,000.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic leadership
- Develop and implement a talent acquisition strategy that supports the organization’s strategic plan and forecasted hiring needs.
- Serve as a strategic partner to hiring managers to understand their talent needs and develop effective recruitment plans.
- Use data and metrics, such as time-to-hire and cost-per-hire, to analyze the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and inform future decisions.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and employment laws, ensuring compliance and competitive recruiting strategies.
2. Candidate sourcing
- Enhance the organization’s ability to attract top talent to the Library
- Develop and execute creative and inclusive sourcing techniques to attract a diverse pool of candidates, including passive and non-traditional methods.
- Manage external partnerships with job boards, professional networks, and relevant community organizations to bolster recruitment efforts.
- Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline for current and future hiring needs, with a focus on roles that are traditionally hard to fill.
3. Team and process management
- Lead, mentor, and coach a small talent acquisition team, providing ongoing development and support.
- Oversee all stages of the recruitment process, ensuring efficiency and a positive experience.
- Manage the applicant tracking function in Workday, optimizing its use for candidate tracking and data reporting.
- Develop and deliver training to hiring managers on effective and equitable interviewing and hiring practices.
4. Inclusive Outreach
- Champion initiatives within the talent acquisition function and develop strategies to attract candidates that reflect the communities that the library serves.
- Ensure all recruitment processes are fair, unbiased, and compliant with equal opportunity employment practices.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, or a related field; relevant certifications are beneficial
- Experience in Workday environment is a plus
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role
- Experience in a unionized, non-profit, or public sector is strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR databases
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing techniques and full-cycle recruitment
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Excellent leadership abilities with a collaborative and mission-driven approach
- Strong supervisory skills and a commitment to developing and mentoring team members
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
