Description
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic and operational partner by supporting a broad range of human resources functions at Piping Rock’s corporate office. The HR Generalist exercises sound judgment, maintains confidentiality, provides guidance to managers and associates, and supports all HR functions, while helping foster a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace. This focus of this role is to provide direct support to special department projects and spearhead compensation programs, in addition to other HR related responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain compensation programs including job evaluations, market pricing, salary recommendations, and internal equity reviews.
- Support annual compensation planning and the merit increase process in the HRIS.
- Partner closely with HR leadership to support and manage projects and department initiatives including policy development, process improvements, and organizational projects.
- Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, associate development, corrective action, conflict resolution and all relevant documentation.
- Create and maintain HR metrics and reporting.
- Develop and deliver training for managers and associates as needed.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and associates on HR policies, practices, and workplace concerns.
- Support associate engagement and retention initiatives.
- May serve as back up to new hire orientations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain knowledge of changing employment legislation and recommend policy updates.
- Maintain accurate associate records while safeguarding confidential information.
- Serve as local HR business partner to corporate and remote associates.
- Provide back up HR coverage at long island locations, on occasion.
- Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to supporting recruiting activities, onboarding programs, talent development efforts, succession planning, internal audits, compliance initiatives, leave and benefit administration, and back up to VP of HR on various responsibilities.
Requirements
- Experience in creating and administering associate compensation programs.
- Positive, partner-focused attitude.
- Experience interpreting employment laws and HR best practices.
- Manufacturing, distribution, or multi-site experience preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Excellent associate relations and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or related field required.
- 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Ability to work onsite in Bohemia, NY with a potential hybrid remote schedule.
- Ability to travel out of state occasionally.
- Flexibility to support 2nd and 3rd shift as needed on occasion.
